Classroom Assignments: All assigned work for a given day should be completed by the following morning. Assignments that have not been completed in class need to be finished by the next morning (unless otherwise specified or a long term assignment). If a student does not complete classwork or homework on time, the grade will be lowered each day that it is late. Students are eligible for full credit for each daily assignment when turned in on time.
Homework Assignments: The purpose of homework is to reinforce skills and material learned in class, to develop homework habits essential for succeeding in later grades, to teach students to work independently, and to provide you with a daily opportunity to encourage your child to succeed in school. Regular homework assignments produce more learning than less consistently assigned homework. Homework should be expected Monday-Friday. It should be an average of about 60 minutes each day (10 minutes x 6th grade), plus an additional 30 minutes of reading. Homework will be reviewed in class, therefore, it is imperative that it is returned complete and on time with the student's best effort.
Student Planners: Each student is given a planner and is expected to write down his or her homework assignments each day. Students should carry this book with them to and from school. This should serve as an indication of the homework your child has each evening.
